Americans don’t trust the media, print or television, reports Gallup today.
Confidence in television is at an all-time low, with only 21 percent of respondents saying they have either a great deal or “quite a lot” of confidence in the medium:
The news isn’t much better for newspapers, with the comparable figure coming in at 25 percent.
What’s even more interesting is that liberals [19 percent] and moderates [20 percent] confident of the tube’s truthiness, while the medium’s traditional critics, conservatives, are more upbeat, giving the medium a 22 percent approval rate. And those who trust the media most are the youngest and least educated of those polled.
