Social media’s role in the Tunisian revolution


From Al Jazeera’s The Listening Post, a look at the role of social media — Facebook, Twitter, etc. — played in the popular revolt in Tunisia, giving events there wide awareness in the Arab world while coverage of the same events in Western media lagged behind.

On of the more fascinating vignettes comes at the end, where we learn that one blogger used Google Earth and photographs from on the ground to detail the travels of the jet of soon-to-be ousted Tunisian President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali as it traveled the Europe’s premiere shopping venues and watering holes.
